Continuing the collaboration between Monks Jazz and the Austin Jazz Society on behalf of #ProjectSafetyNet, the 38th concert in the series will feature Wayne Salzmann II' Groove Society.
 
 Wayne Salzmann II is a Drummer, Educator, Author, and Composer based in Austin, Texas. He has performed and/or recorded with Steve Miller, Kenny Rogers, Kris Kristofferson, Eric Johnson, Christopher Cross, Bob Schneider, Joe Satriani, Mike Stern, Robben Ford, Chris Potter, Dick Oatts, Bill Watrous, Diane Schuur, Bobby Shew, Carmen Bradford, UT Jazz Faculty, San Antonio Symphony, and many others. He has hundreds of recording credits, including a Billboard no. 1 Jazz record, a Billboard no. 1 Blues record, and feature film soundtracks. 
 
 Salzmann is the Drum Set Professor at the University of Texas at Austin, and has given drum clinics and masterclasses worldwide. His book Developing Melodic Language on the Drums has received high acclaim from legendary drummers Peter Erskine, Ed Soph, Carl Allen, John Riley, and from Modern Drummer Magazine. He currently serves as a member of the Drum Set Committee for the Percussive Arts Society. Salzmann is an Artist and Clinician for DW Drums, Zildjian Cymbals, Remo Drumheads, and Vic Firth Drumsticks.

 We invite viewers to donate; contributions ensure performers get paid, with surplus funds going into Austin Jazz Society’s “Project Safety Net” – a project initiated in late March 2020 to assist Austin-area jazz musicians whose livelihoods have been affected by the pandemic. To date, the fundraising project has raised over $104,000 and benefitted 110+ individual jazz musicians.
