Lake Atitlan is the most beautiful lake in the world, and is the deepest lake in Central America, and the volcanoes next to it makes it even more special!

Tzununa, situated next to Lago de Atitlan is a tranquil village with a stunning view over the lake and the three volcanoes: Volcan San Pedro, Volcan Tolimán and Volcan Atitlán. You can even see Volcano Acatenango and the smoke from the active volcano Fuego from here.

The little town belongs to the Santa Cruz La Laguna municipality. The indigenous Maya of Tzununa are part of the Kaq’chikel ethnic group. Tz'unün means colibri/hummingbird in Kaq’chikel.

Delicious Guatemalan food with amazing view of Lago Atitlan! We visit a great Lake Atitlan restaurant here in Tzununa. They offer cheap and great local food, and lake view from the terrace! Don't miss this place if you travel Guatemala 2020.

We also visit an organic fruit shop with the best coconut, and also an organic farm. On the way to the organic farm we find best viewpoint over Lago de Atitlan.

How to get to Tzununa Lake Atitlan? You can take a boat or hike some of the trails between the towns around the lake.
