My stepdad passed away suddenly and unprompted, Joe asked me what his favorite song was. I told him it was Garth Brooks' - Friends in Low Places. He wrote this out for us to play in his memory.
The first time we played it was at a family Labor Day party a year after he passed. Joe had surprised us with it, so we couldn't do our usual "listen to it on finale before recording a playthrough." So, we had to sight sing it instead before we played it live for the first time at the party.
I had a hard time playing it without crying, especially because most of the crowd was crying as we played it.
This is a version we recorded under our usual conditions in December of 2006.
