This time shift video was taken at Thorn Bridge on Broadgate, in the centre of Lincoln. The old photo shows The Green Dragon pub, but not the one most of us know and loved in the new photo. The original Green Dragon was there in 1735, but was closed and demolished in 1956 to allow for the widening of Broadgate and construction of the new bridge across the river Witham.

There is another video that shows that construction, please check it out.

Luckily for the old pub, there was a a beautiful old timber frame building next door, and that was renovated to become the new version of the Green Dragon. That was one of my favourite Lincoln pubs, but despite it's popularity it closed a few years ago.

However, the best story of these pubs is from 1737, only 2 years after it opened, when the landlord of the old pub was arrested for holding stolen goods for legendary highwayman Dick Turpin!
