The Possibilists is a podcast collaboration between The Smithsonian Earth Optimism and Pelecanus.

In this partnership we spotlight conservationists working with a possibilistic attitude for solutions-based efforts to tackle the world's critical environmental struggles. We’re attempting to reframe the narrative around conservation to show that conservation successes are possible through changes in attitude and implementation of intentional change.
In this episode of The Possibilists we talk with Dr. J. Drew Lanham, a professor of wildlife ecology at Clemson University, where his research focuses on songbird ecology as well as the African-American role in natural-resources conservation. Dr. Lanham is also an author and award-nominated poet of The Home Place: Memoirs of a Colored Man’s Love Affair with Nature, as well as his collection of poems, Sparrow Envy, were both published in 2016.
Please find and read his books and articles, and keep up with the content he produces. He is a true voice of conservation in our time.
