A brief account of the crime and punishment of allegedly the last Highwayman to be hanged for highway robbery,James Blackman Snooks.

As always,reports differ and are conflicting as is often the case.
A few things I didn't include was that the people of Hemel Hempstead were given the day off to attend the hanging, and Snooks had offered his gold pocket watch to anyone that would give him a decent burial.

His body was thrown into an unmarked grave, but the residents of Hemel Hempstead decided the following day to dig up the body,place it in a coffin & rebury it.
His grave marker is placed roughly where he was buried.

If Snooks hadn't been wanted for so many other crimes,he would have been deported to Australia instead of having to face the noose.
