This is a new song I finished up earlier this year, but thought that I should officially “release” it, since it’s that time of the year when you need something to audition for next Spring’s music festivals.
The song was inspired by the African American landscape artists from the Fort Pierce area known as the Florida Highwaymen, who began painting in the mid-1950s. Mostly self-taught, they produced beautiful scenes of windblown palms, grassy marshes, and sunsets, all in brilliant colors that caught the true essence of many of the natural vistas that have been lost over the years as Florida has changed.
