I wrote the first part of this tune for a class project as a college freshman in 1972. The second theme and breakdown came to me when I picked up a 12-string that was on sale at Guitar Center in Dallas, TX. That guitar went home with me right away.

The first version I recorded of The Highwayman was all synths. This "final" version was recorded for my album "An Anonymous Man" in 1999. You can find it on Apple Music, Amazon, Spotify, or your favorite streaming service.
