A Kiwi worth singing about

The Ballad of Burt Munro is a brand new song, written and sung by Roger Lusby with instrumental backing by Roger's son Simon Lusby and vocal harmonies by family member Amiria Grenell.

The song is a family tribute to the man who rode the world’s fastest Indian motorcycle in Class S-A up to 1000cc on the Bonneville Salt flats, Utah, USA In 1967.

Roger Lusby is a New Zealand balladeer, who grew up in Roxburgh Central Otago. When an apprentice motorcycle mechanic, Burt Munro had a big impact on Lusby as he purchased a motorcycle from Burt in the early 1960s.

Lusby has written songs about special New Zealanders and the Central Otago area for over 30 years.

The Ballad of Burt Munro tells of Burt's life in two and a half minutes, paying tribute to Burt's tenacity and never-ending challenge to make his Indian motorcycle go faster.
