It’s time for the second part in looking at Channel 4’s Box Network - took a while to do due to the school holidays but here it is. This week we’re looking at the Magic, Smash Hits, Box Hits, 4 music and Kerrang brands including some of their radio station roots.
Channel 4 announced in 2024 that they would be getting rid of the music network by the end of the year. I go through some ideas on how Channel 4 could slimline their music channels and a few of my daft ideas.
This episode also contains some history about radio station brands, which include viking radio in Hull, Radio Aire in Leeds, Key 103/ piccadilly radio in Manchester, and The Pulse aka pennine radio in Bradford West yorkshire.
