The reason that Alan Jackson canceled his recent tour dates is that he’s suffering from a neurological condition that goes by the name of Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease. The disease causes problems in the limbs, which makes it pretty hard for Alan to walk and play guitar. Though the condition is only going to keep getting worse over time, Alan believes that he’ll be able to make it back out on the stage eventually.

While accepting his Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award, Alan Jackson thanked his longtime wife Denise. Fans will know that there were multiple reasons that Alan thanked his wife. Not only has Denise been with Alan through thick and thin for over four decades, but Denise is also largely responsible for securing her husband the recording contract that ended up making him famous.

Alan and Denise met in high school, and they got married in the late 1970s. The pair moved out to Nashville in the mid-1980s in the hopes that Alan might strike it big. The musician certainly did strike it big, releasing his debut album in 1990 to loads of commercial and critical success. In addition to winning the Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award just recently, Alan has also been named Entertainer of the Year at the Country Music Awards on three separate occasions.

Regardless of Alan Jackson’s future, the musician is going to leave behind an incredible legacy in the country-music world when he goes. Even if Alan never manages to get back out onto the stage, his fans and his wife will still love him.
