Join Chris as he describes how Circles of Support and Accountability effectively reduces recidivism amongst those persons convicted of a sexual offence who are returning to our communities following their release from prison.

This presentation will highlight how restorative practice and the role of the community can support and complement the risk management undertaken by Probation. Circles of Support and Accountability was introduced to the United Kingdom in 2001 and its success resulted in the national commissioning of CoSA last year, by the Ministry of Justice (2023) to support the work of probation practitioners. Chris is a senior manager for Circles Southeast.

By the end of the session you will have a greater understanding of how Circles of Support help to support people on their release from custody, you will also have an idea of how their work complements the risk management strategy.
