Written by Jimmy McHugh and Dorothy Fields, this song was first recorded in 1930. Subsequently every singer and band leader of any note during the swing era put out their own version, including Louis Armstrong, Tommy Dorsey, Count Basie, Ella Fitzgerald - the list is endless. Even Willie Nelson had a hit with it in the 1980s and Rod Stewart recorded it in 2010. So the song has endured. One of my favourites.
