I know I already made a lesson for this, but that was the easy version. This is the intermediate one, where we learn to play it without a capo, like Willie Nelson would.
EASY VERSION - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4rZzoy74rI0
IF YOU NEED REAL HELP WITH BARRE CHORDS, I have a solution: it's a step-by-step course that takes you from the easiest exercise, all the way to being able to play barre chords in any key (any song!).
Visit the following page for more information: https://goodguitarist.com/barre-chords/
And there's my FREE eBOOK (which is free for all subscribers!) - You can use it to help you build a solid foundation: chords, switching, progressions, riffs, techniques... everything it takes to be a "good guitarist." You can find it here: http://goodguitarist.com/learn-rhythm-guitar/
We start with some chord shapes. There are a couple easy ones: E, A. And 3 barre chords: G#7, F#m and B.
I show you how the G#7 is actually based off the E shape, and then just changed a bit. And then I show you how to change your G#7 into F#m by moving a finger. And for B... well, that's like the hardest barre shape for most people, so we talk a little bit about that one too!
Moving on, we practice the chords in order, and then I break out my white board and show you all how to properly memorize a chord progression by writing it down as a real musician would.
Next is the strumming pattern, which is pretty easy, but super fast. Muscle memory is the only way to succeed here... start slow and only go faster when it's COMFORTABLE!
After that, we figure out the next section of the song. Pretty easy. We play the chords + strumming together through each section.
Lastly, I show you all the little finishing touches, like "climing up" to the G#7 chord, and the little hammer-on thing Willie does to the E chord at the beginning of the song.
I hope you enjoy the lesson and I'll see you next time!
