And thus did Merlin succeed Arthur and become a minstrel too.
It seems like around the late 60s and early 70s,a lot of European actors tried their hand at singing. Richard Harris who played King Arthur in the movie Camelot and later on stage embarked on a recording career, with mixed results, and later in the 70s Albert Finney would record an album too,but Nicol's efforts are sadly forgotten.Ten years before he played Merlin in the movie Excalibur (1981),Nicol tried his hand at singing. He did it first on a late night television chat show in England in March of 1970, and when the results were regarded as successful, he tried his hand at recording, with mixed results. Ironically,he even starts this album with one of the same songs Richard Harris recorded on his first album. I'd say Nicol had more breath control than Richard Harris did at the time.
