Mike Johnson is Country Music's No.1 Black Yodeler. His unique combinations of the Jimmie Rodgers, cowboy, and Swiss yodeling styles firmly established him as such. He has written over 150 yodeling songs and 114 of them were acquired for their collection by the Recorded Sound Reference Center at the Library of Congress in Washington DC in April 2007.

20 August 2016, Mike Johnson and James Adelsberger rehearsing one of many songs on their list for their multi-stage performances at the upcoming week-long 2016 Old Time Country Music Festival in LeMars, Iowa. James will receive a 2016 "Instrumental CD of the Year" award for his Instrumental CD "Country Sounds" and Mike will receive a 2016" Lifetime Achievement" Award for nearly 30 years involvement in Country Music. "Hey Whatcha Doin'" was written by Mike Johnson.
