This month, the legendary Taj Mahal visited The Church Studio and graciously spared some time to sit down and talk with us! In this video, he tells us about meeting Leon Russell in Los Angeles, remembers playing gigs with him, and talks fondly about other artists who have covered Leon Russell’s legendary “A Song For You.”

Taj Mahal is an American Blues legend, singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, actor, and film composer. Over his 50+ year career, he has received the American Music Association's Lifetime Achievement Award, three Grammy Awards, and ten Grammy nominations. Taj is also a mind-boggling, multifaceted musician, playing guitar, piano, banjo, harmonica, and more than 20 total instruments.
