Demo song from Kris album Please don't tell me how the story ends (2010)
There's a wonderful booklet to the cd with interviews of his buddies and rare pics and Kris' thoughts to each demo, so really worth to buy the cd edition

Well, I never thought I would ever make a video to this song, but for some reasons I started the project and really enjoyed working on it, and I'm pretty satisfied with what it has come out...
And I loved to see Gene Hackman dance to Kris' song lol
Certainly Kris was a bit stoned with this recording and I wouldn't make a bet on how much of the pipe his buddies had smoked, but they obviously were having a ball.
And I'm really proud of Kris that he was strong enough to quit drinking and become sober...
This is for a good friend of mine who also is a problem when he's stoned, but is such a gifted writer...
Wow, this already is my 27th creatively edited video to a song of Kris...
The album song is on Kris' "Border Lord" album (1972)
Kris about this song:
"'High and Getting' Strange" is just connecting with unfamiliar women. "Strange" meant somebody outside there. But it's a double meaning thing. It just means you're getting' strange yourself. "Strange" also -- I worked for several years as a laborer in construction. "Strange" to all of them meant strange pussy."
Billy Swan:
"I found the demo tape in one of the cardboard boxes in a storage shed next to my house. It was literally in the next to the last , if not the last box. I knew I hadn't imagined it, though for a while I thought I might had. As Buddy Holly sang "Oh Boy!" Was I happy! Especially after it was transferred to CD and I heard it. It took me back to some fun days, good times and good friends."
Getting By, High and Strange
New York City was a stitch in time
when I stood all I could of L.A.
Patching up the pieces of my tangled mind
digging something different every day.
Soon as I was better I was moving on
getting it together getting good and gone
And by (getting by) high (good and high)
and strange (gonna get some strange)
New ain't nothing but a state of mind
Keeps a man from missing what he left behind
I'll take anything that I can find
anyhow anywhere anyway anytime
I'll keep living 'til the day
if I can keep it getting up for one more try
And by (getting by) high (good and high)
and strange (gonna get some strange)
New ain't nothin' but a state of mind...
