1978 self-released LP by country singer and yodeler Joy King.
Joy King (1937-2016) was a country singer and renowned yodeler from Knoxville, Tennessee. In the 1950s and 1960s she traveled around playing on local barn dance shows and at coffeehouses in Tennessee and Florida. She recorded sparingly in the 1960s and 1970s, including a single "Taking Chances" backed with "Laughing Girl", which was recorded with members of the Nashville A-Team. She was a popular attraction in Gatlinburg during the 1960s. Joy also released a few LPs in her career: two with country singer Eddie Nash and the solo LP uploaded here. She played around Tennessee frequently until the 1990s, when an illness affected her voice.
Joy King passed away in 2016.
The liner notes of this LP were written by Archie Campbell. Personnel on the LP include Smokey White, David Johnson, Richard Benfield, Bon Berg, Denny McCoy, Jim Deal, Gerald Taylor, and Eddie Nash. Joy is credited with vocals, yodels, fiddle, and 12-string guitar. Harry Deal engineered the session at Galaxie III Studios in Taylorsville, North Carolina.
