Written by Carl Sigman and PeterDeRose. Arranged by Don Costa and produced by Global Records, Inc.
Johnny Mathis left Columbia in 1963 after a solid six year chart run and joined Mercury. Obviously aware of the quality and selling power of his Christmas recordings, Mercury had Johnny record a Christmas album almost as soon as he landed at the label. “The Sounds Of Christmas” was released in October 1963 and two tracks were issued on 45: “The Little Drummer Boy” / “Have Reindeer Will Travel”.
“It’s A Marshmallow World” was written in 1949 and both Bing Crosby and Dean Martin released versions in 1950. Other later versions include those by Darlene Love (on Phil Spector’s “ A Christmas Gift For You” album), Brenda Lee and Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood. The latter was recorded in 2016, showing the longevity of the song.
