On this October 30, 2020 edition of “Live From The Shop”, Elio welcomes his special guest JD Myers. Although new to the Texas music scene where his roadhouse-honky tonk style is finally getting the respect that Music Row has historically refused to give to those with a streak of independence. After seeing him perform in his element of a smoky Texas dancehall, hearing the soul he pours into each whiskey soaked vocal, the aggressiveness behind each string bend of his Telecaster, and the youthful energy an audience feels from his commanding stage presence, one would never guess that he is closing in on nearly 30 years of fighting the system of the Nashville scene.

The youngest songwriter ever signed to Nashville's division of Warner Chappell Music at age 19, he found himself signing his first major label record deal at age 20 to Asylum/Elektra Records. A true prodigy with a goal of preserving country music's history, roots and branches and being willing to stick to his guns to promote the spirit of Americana, not only through his music but also by honoring his country as a patriot. Artists like JD Myers are a rarity in this current environment. He is not simply a throwback to the legends of country music, he is quite simply the real thing. Although mainstream success has alluded him, he has earned the respect of many of the genre's legendary pickers, singers and songwriters.

Elio and JD discuss the songwriting sessions that lead to the majority of the great songs he performs in this show including the co-write with his honky tonk hero: Waylon Jennings!
