The first time I heard Johnny Cash sing this song, it gave me goosebumps. Maybe it was because of the simple (but so effective) arrangement of the song, using guitar and piano. His voice was weakened and sorrowful, yet full of power and conviction. I listen to that song regularly.

Johnny recorded Hurt in 2002, and died in September of 2003. His wife had passed away 4 months prior to Johnny's passing. The song “Hurt” has since become the unofficial epitaph of Johnny Cash for many people.

I arranged this song to play on my nylon string guitar, and although it has a few rough spots, I still felt good about it and really wanted to share it with people. Please enjoy :)
