Jared Bowen talks to the lead actors in the musical "Sing Street," now onstage at the Huntington Theatre Company/BCA Pavillion. Based on the 2016 independent film, the musical is set in Dublin, 1982. Times are tough and money is scarce and prospects for Irish kids look bleak. Sing Street is told from the point of view of Conno , a teenage boy who has just moved from his private school to a tough inner-city alternative. To survive, he decides to start his own band. In turn, the music gives him--and his friends--a feeling of hope.
