This is an iconic, very successful country tune of the 70s. Composed and initially released by Kris Kristofferson in 1970, it made the big time when covered by Sammi Smith later that same year. Her version remains one of the most successful country recordings ever made in terms of record sales and radio coverage. She also received a Grammy for it.
For my vocals and sax, I used an AKG C7 condenser reference vocal mic. Alto sax is a Selmer Mark VI, with vintage Brilhart Tonalin mouthpiece and Forestone Black Bamboo reed. Music was arranged and played with Notation Composer - based on a very nice midi sound track someone put on the web.
