If the "woman tone" is a Les Paul in the middle position with the bridge tone on 0, what's the secret to getting the Pretty Woman tone? Well, our friends at Gibson Custom have given us an answer by building the Jerry Kennedy "Pretty Woman" 1961 ES-335. This faded cherry cutie is a painstakingly accurate recreation of the guitar Nashville session great Jerry Kennedy used on dozens of classic records by artists like Bob Dylan, Elvis, Ringo Starr, Kris Kristofferson, and (of course) Roy Orbison. The most famous of these tracks, of course, was Orbison's "Oh, Pretty Woman." So famous, in fact, that Jerry Kennedy nicknamed his '61 ES-335 "Pretty Woman" to commemorate its success!

Pedal Steel Power

And these Gibson Custom recreations of that legendary guitar certainly are beauties! They have a killer aged faded cherry finish that replicates the original serial's play wear with stunning accuracy. They've also scanned the Slim Taper D-Shaped neck of the original, and it feels as buttery as can be. To top it off, they recreated Jerry's home-brewed B- and E-bender tailpiece, an innovative design that allows you to take your pedal steel lick game to the next level. Such unprecedented bending ability is sure to get your creative juices flowing!

Speaking of sparking creativity, the Pretty Woman 335 is sure to captivate you with its starling resonance. Gibson used hide glue to attach the fretboard to the solid mahogany neck and to attach the neck to the body. Hide glue is a protein-based adhesive that promotes the greatest possible transfer of energy between two pieces of wood. Though this old-world manufacturing technique is time-consuming, it pays incredible dividends for resonance and sustain. Plop of couple of Custombuckers in the body for some true-to-vintage old-school PAF tone, and you have quite an intoxicating sonic cocktail!

We're proud to showcase such an incredible recreation of a legendary guitar. We know that its massive amount of mojo will inspire you every time you pick it up. So, we invite you to take the Jerry Kennedy ES-335 for a spin and experience the Pretty Woman tone for yourself.
