South Korea's President Yoon has been in power for one year. When he was campaigning for the Presidency, to court the conservative votes, he had blamed feminism for the country's low birth-rates, and proposed to abolish the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family.

Since his election, the feminist movement has protested his administration’s attempts to roll back women's rights. At the recent March 8th Women's Day rally, calls were made to protect the Ministry.

This episode of Insight looks at the rise of the feminist movement in South Korea, and the many issues that affect women in the country - from having the biggest gender pay gap among OECD countries to high rates of sexual assault and harassment. At the same time, there is a growing men's rights movement, who are pushing back against the feminist wave. These groups claim that feminism has gone too far, verging on men-hating.
