(1 Nov 2017) GARTH BROOKS SAYS NEW ANTHOLOGY IS LIKE A GARTH ENCYCLOPEDIA
Even Garth Brooks can learn a new thing or two from his upcoming anthology of five books about his legendary career as a country music mega star.
The singer revealed on Wednesday that he would be wrapping up his current world tour in Nashville, Tennessee, in December. It's been seven years since he last performed in Nashville, which was a record-breaking series of nine sold out shows for flood relief.
"We're just so excited to get here because it's Nashville. Because it's home. But also because it is like the exclamation point on the tour," said Brooks, who has been touring the past three years.
He's played nearly 400 shows to more than 6 million fans, making a great argument for why he should win the Entertainer of the Year award at next week's CMA Awards on Nov. 8.
"For some reason people think it gets old winning awards but what you don't understand that the older you get, the more rare it becomes to win," Brooks said. "So let's take me out of it but let's put the band and crew in that place. Do they deserve it? Hell, yeah, they deserve it."
Also coming out in November is the first of a five-part series of books about his career, which he said is sort of like a Garth encyclopedia.
"Yeah, it is. If you're ever going to do a research paper, this is," Brooks said. "Cause the guys that they interview are nothing but the truth. Sweetest musicians in this town, songwriters. Guys that have no reason to tell stories other than what they remember. I gotta tell you I learned a lot reading from their side."
