CLERMONT COUNTY, Ohio (WKRC) – A sold-out crowd at the Starlite Drive-In watched Garth Brooks’ in a virtual concert.
550 cars filled the Starlite Saturday night. Garth Brooks announced in early June he would take his tour to drive-ins around the country.
More than 300 theaters played the one-night-only show. It’s a “first-of-its-kind drive-in theater concert.”
Garth Brooks had to postpone his Cincinnati concert due to COVID-19.
Fans at the Starlite were looking forward to a night out listening to music in a safe way.
Many were excited about a different experience. They think Brooks is a great entertainer in-person or even through a screen.
"He's there for the fans. It's not about him it's about the fans and making sure he's putting on the best show possible. He makes it fun. He's an entertainer and his music relates to the common person,” said Anne Simpson.
"It's just a unique experience because obviously if the virus wasn't around you wouldn't go to a drive-in to watch a concert. This is the next best thing. It's a unique experience and probably won't happen too much in the future,” said Gary Sheldon.
The Starlite Drive-In followed all social distancing guidelines. Cars were spread six feet apart.
