Born today in 1962 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Garth Brooks grew up surrounded by music, performing in family talent shows before picking up the guitar and banjo. By 1985, he was playing clubs and recording demos, eventually making the move to Nashville in 1987. His 1989 debut album brought his first country #1, but it was his second album in 1990 that skyrocketed him to superstardom.
