Kris Kristofferson wrote the song FOR THE GOOD TIMES in 1968 while on a trip to Mexico. It recounts the end of a love affair, based on a real life experience of his, in a manner that conveys sadness, acceptance, and longing. It was later recorded by Kenny Rogers (1969) and Gordon Lightfoot (1970) as well as by many other artists of various genres since that time.
