By this stage, Elvis had already been performing this Kris Kristofferson composition in concert for just over a year. Although Elvis had performed it at least seven times in Vegas during February of 1972, this was the only time he would use it during this tour and it would be the final rendition of the year.
It is ironic that Elvis would perform it at the first of his Hampton Roads shows during the matinee when the evening show was being filmed by MGM for Elvis – On Tour. This would have been much less of an irony had he performed it extensively throughout the tour but as the solo rendition of April 1972, it feels in hindsight as an opportunity lost!

As with all of these videos, to get the most out of the re-edited audio, I highly recommend you use ear /headphones and turn the volume up as much as you dare!
