This one is close to my heart as I sketched up the original idea some years back and secured S106 funding for the project back in my last local government stint.

The current folks in the Havering highways folks have done a cracking job here and essentially put right a problem from the 1980s when the eastern side of the Romford Ring Road was built which completed the orbital road.

Although the new road removed through-traffic, a one-way system was retained in the area near Romford Station to serve Havana Close car park and so it was never a place to cycle. In 2001, the Brewery Shopping Centre opened and Exchange Street was opened along with redesigned traffic movements, but again, cycling was forgotten.

These new sections of cycle tack and lanes now make it possible to cycle in all four directions near the station. North to south is South Street and Exchange Street (north) via Havana Close and east to west is Eastern Road and Exchange Street (west) via Havana Close.

At the end of the video, we head out of town through an old crossing of the Ring Road which does the job if a little out of date.
