Dick van Altena (Oosterhout, 1957) is a Dutch singer, guitarist and songwriter. Van Altena composes from country songs to children's songs and was also involved in country group Major Dundee between 1977 and 2005.
An album by Kris Kristofferson provided Van Altena with a whole series of self-written songs. He is responsible for many songs by Henk Wijngaard (Hey Suzie, originally written for Arne Jansen), Mooi Wark and Toni Willé from Pussycat. His 1990 song "It turned out to be you" has been covered many times. In between his work with Major Dundee, he has released three solo albums. Dick Van Altena lives off royalties and his performances as a singer-songwriter. In 2014, Johan Derksen visited him for his musical road trip, the RTL series Derksen on the Road. On October 7, 2017, Dick Van Altena was knighted in the Order of Orange Nassau for his services to music.
