Dick Turpin was born on the 21st of September 1705 and died by being hung on the 7th of April 1739
He was an English highwayman that was romanticised and rode a horse called black. Beth
That was made famous by the Victorian novelist William Harrison Ainsworth who wrote the book called Rockwood almost 100 years after Dick Turpin's death
Dicked up in trying to hide from the law by taking the pseudonym John Palmer and was imprisoned at York castle.
Dick Turpin is the most famous outlaw in history all due to the book and many other books that have been written and songs about him.
