Desperado Lewis H. Musgrove. Leader of the Musgrove Gang. Thieves, Highwaymen and Murderers. Lewis Musgrave, the scourge of Colorado you never heard of. Musgrove directed a network of horse and cattle thieves who raided government posts and wagon trains along the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains in Colorado and followed the Cherokee Trail into Wyoming.
Outlaw, horse thief, wagon train robber, murderer and leader of a large gang. He was lynched from the Larimer Street Bridge in Denver, Colorado, in 1868. Good riddance, thought the government whose livestock he had stolen.
He was originally buried in the Pleasant Hills Cemetery in Denver and moved along with many other bodies to the Riverside Cemetery, or was he? No tombstone exists in either place. Pleasant Hills is now a city park that rests over about 2,000 bodies not removed. If you want to visit Lewis, better pay your respects in both locations as his gravesite is lost forever.
