West Cork Literary Festival's Advent Calendar is back for the third year. Join us from 1-24 December when we will unveil a short online reading each day from Irish books released in 2022. All of these videos will be captioned.

In December 2020 we launched a Literary Advent Calendar to highlight Irish and Irish-based writers who released new books that year without the usual format of launches and events. This was an attempt to support as many writers as we could whilst also bringing interesting content to audiences in what was a very cluttered online world. That year we invited 24 writers to record a short reading and we shared one of these each day from 1-24 December. We repeated this in December 2021 and even though in-person events are now back, so is our online Literary Advent Calendar. Festival director Eimear O'Herlihy says "there are so many incredible Irish books published each year and this is an attempt to celebrate some of this year's authors that we were unable to include in our festival in July 2022".

Our 2022 Literary Advent Calendar gives you the chance to enjoy poetry, novels, short stories, non-fiction, children's/young adult writing from a mix of debut and established authors.
