#5 Hoia Baciu Forest
The most ancient Neolithic settlement in Romania is dated to around 6500 BC and is contained within this forest. It covers about 3 square kilometers (1.2 sq miles) near Transylvania. Maybe that location helps account for some of the strange activities alleged to have taken place here. Paranormal events including UFO sightings, ghostly apparitions, malfunctioning electronics, and people suddenly disappearing are said to have occurred. An area of the forest identified as “the clearing” shows no evidence of any vegetation ever having grown on it. Scientists have no explanation for it. Nor can they explain why trees in the forest will grow in strange zig-zag patterns. Maybe you can understand why this place is sometimes called Romania’s Bermuda Triangle.

#4 Dow Hill Forest
One of India’s most haunted places is said to be located within the Dow Hill Forest which surrounds a school for boys. The beauty of the place seems to be balanced by its beastliness, with several murders having allegedly been committed here. There’s a stretch of road known as Death Road where the headless ghost of a young male can be glimpsed walking through the forest before vanishing. Some of the other paranormal activities reported are unseen entities following hikers and red eyes appearing from out of nowhere. According to certain sources the eerie feeling of being watched and followed drove some people to commit suicide.


#3 The Screaming Woods
In Kent, England you’ll find Pluckley, a place that Guinness once deemed to be “the most haunted village in Britain”. While that category no longer exists, the haunted reputation of Pluckley’s Dering Woods remains very much alive. It’s also known as the Screaming Forest thanks to the ghost of a highwayman who was killed there in 18th century. The apparition is said to emit blood-curdling screams in the dead of night. Up to 15 different ghosts are reported to inhabit the woods. That includes the Red Lady who died in the 12th century, and still wanders the area. Other paranormal activity including phantom footsteps, whispering, and strange lights in the forest has also been reported.


#2 The Suicide Forest
At about 12 square miles (30 sq km), Aokigahara Forest in Japan is located at the base of Mount Fuji. It’s sometimes called the Sea of Trees, but it’s best known as the Suicide Forest. That’s a reference to its popularity as a place to commit suicide. More than 100 bodies have been recovered there. And in 2010 alone, more than 200 people attempted suicide in the forest with 54 completing the act. We found where some sources partly attribute the phenomenon to demons that dwell in the forest. Others feel that there’s an overabundance of paranormal activity that could cause people to become lost and desperate within the forest’s depths. It’s often remarked that magnetic iron contained within the volcanic soil can disrupt compasses, so maybe there’s a basis in fact for that one.
