Country music star Toby Keith has died following a battle with stomach cancer, at the age of 62.
According to a statement released on his official account on X, Keith “passed peacefully.”
“He fought his fight with grace and courage. Please respect the privacy of his family at this time,” reads the statement.
In June 2022, the 'Should’ve Been a Cowboy' singer shared that he had been “receiving chemo, radiation and surgery.”
In September 2023, at the People’s Choice Country Awards, he declared, “It’s always zero to 60 and 60 to zero, but I feel good today.”
During his career, Keith wrote or co-wrote a majority of his material, ranging from country-pop to southern rock.
More than 60 of his singles made it to the country charts and he sold more than 40 million albums worldwide.
Keith is survived by his wife Tricia Lucas and his three children: Shelley Covel Rowland, Krystal Keith and Stelen Keith Covel.
