Legendary actor and musician Kris Kristofferson has passed away at the age of 88 at his home in Hawaii. Known for his poetic lyrics and rugged good looks, Kristofferson was a beloved figure in the world of country music and Hollywood.

Fellow Highwayman Willie Nelson is mourning the loss of his friend and bandmate. Nelson, who was a member of the outlaw country group The Highwaymen alongside Kristofferson, spoke to The Associated Press about the country icon's death. "Kris was a great friend of mine," Nelson, 91, said. "And, you know, we just kind of had a lot of fun together and made a lot of music together – videos, movies. I hated to lose him. That was a sad time."

Kristofferson, along with Nelson, Cash, and Jennings, formed The Highwaymen in 1985. The supergroup's debut album, "Highwayman," was a huge success, topping Billboard's Top Country Albums chart and producing a No. 1 hit with the title track. The band also starred in the Western TV film "Stagecoach" in 1986, showcasing their country chemistry on screen.

Nelson praised Kristofferson's songwriting abilities, saying, "He was a great songwriter. He left a lot of fantastic songs around for the rest of us to sing, for as long as we're here."

With Kristofferson's passing, Nelson is now the last surviving member of The Highwaymen, as both Jennings and Cash passed away in the early 2000s. Kristofferson's legacy as a talented musician and actor will live on through his timeless songs and memorable performances.
