Song 2 from my Gordon Lightfoot appreciation weekend. Gordon Lightfoot left us on May the first 2023, he was performing right up to the end of his 84 years on this earth. The word "legend" is bandied about a lot these days for people who barely deserve it. "Gordy" was the real deal, he wrote some classic songs in his time and my second song is also from 1974.
Gordon said "I thought it would make a good title for a song. I wrote it down, put it in my suitcase and it stayed there for eight months." The song is apparently about an old girlfriend of Gordon's called Ann. He said "It was one of those situations where you meet that one woman who knocks you out and then leaves you standing there and says she's on her way."
