Smash Broadway Musical ‘A Night With Janis Joplin’ Comes To Movie Screens This November and it stars Grammy-Nominated, Actress Ashley Támar Davis.

A Night With Janis Joplin follows the icon’s rise to fame and pays tribute to some of her biggest musical influences, including legends like Aretha Franklin, Etta James, Nina Simone and Bessie Smith. Since its premiere in 2011, the Broadway musical has received multiple nominations and awards and has been seen at sold-out engagements around the country.

From her roots growing up in Port Arthur, Texas to exploding on the San Francisco music scene and a memorable performance at Woodstock, Joplin became one of the voices of the 60’s Generation, both in the United States and around the world. Her unmistakable voice, filled with grit and raw emotion while also tinged with a dash of southern comfort, made her a must-see headliner for her tragically short career.

Joplin only recorded four albums, two with the band Big Brother and the Holding Company and two solo albums, one of which, 1971’s Pearl was released posthumously and, ironically, became her only #1 record on the Billboard chart. The artist is most closely associated with her two biggest hits, 1968’s A Piece of My Heart and 1971’s Me and Bobby McGee, a song written by Kris Kristofferson and Fred Foster and originally performed by George Miller in 1969.
