It’s been a crazy week, with the horrific pounding Democrats somehow received at the hands of extremists on Election Day, but there’s something we can all be happy about: Willie Nelson and the President singing On the Road Again.
On Friday, PBS aired A Salute to the Troops: In Performance at the White House, a pre-Veterans Day celebration honoring those who choose to serve our nation. The show featured performances by Mary J. Blige, Common, John Fogerty, Willie Nelson, Romeo Santos, and many others .Obama said in his opening remarks at the event:
“We’ve got a little bit of rock-and-roll, we’ve got a little bit of country, a little bit of everything in between. And that’s good, because here in America, no matter where you are from, no matter what music you listen to, we’re all united out of respect and admiration for the brave men and women who wear our country’s uniform.”
The highlight of the night, however, was the very end, when the President joined Nelson to sing his beloved tune, On the Road Again. The President continued:
“We need to finish up with somebody who knows a little bit about music, knows a little bit about America, and loves our troops, Mr. Willie Nelson. Willie says I’m going to have to sing with him, so I’m going to try it out.”
