Live! from the depths of a shadowy, poorly lit basement located in a small Midwest U.S. village . . .

Old Wisconsin Guy country croons a verse of "Amanda", a song recorded by both Don Williams (1973) and Waylon Jennings (1974). Amanda was Waylon Jennings's eighth solo number one on the country chart. The single stayed at number one for three weeks on the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart.

As recorded by Jennings, Amanda had been a track on his 1974 album The Ramblin' Man, but was not released as a single at that time. More than 4½ years later, new overdubs were added to the original track and it was placed on his first greatest hits album. In April 1979 the song was issued as a single, and it soon became one of the biggest country hits of 1979.

The singer:
Old Wisconsin Guy is an amateur vocalist at best whose sole musical training is singing karaoke for more than 25 years in bars and bowling alleys. Enjoying the music from decades ago is more important than the quality of the vocals and audio/video production.

For Old Wisconsin Guy, it's about “old guy-ness”, which is more of a state of mind than anything else. It’s just sitting back with your favorite beverage, enjoying old tunes – singing along with them, humming them, or listening to them – and remembering who or what they remind you of.

It’s taking life slower than in your younger days, making more time for the things and the ones you love, and reflecting on your memories and the valuable blessings of today.

So . . . let’s raise a glass to all the Old Guys everywhere! Their numbers are many; hopefully, you have the privilege (or occasional regret LOL!) to have at least one in your life.
