African drumming in the caves beneath Ye Olde Salution Inn. Drumming down there is an amazing experience especially when you have an interest in the history.

Ye Olde Salution Inn, known to the locals as The Sal, is built over a system of caves dating back to the 9th century. The Sal is one of the oldest pubs in the city and has been named as one of the most haunted in the UK. One of the spirits said to frequent the Sal is Rosie. Rosie was a flower seller, who at the age of 4 or 5 years was struck by a carriage in the courtyard. She was carried into the caves to keep her cool and comfortable while the doctor arrived. Unfortunately, he was too late.

Shortly after the incident customers were complaining about being scratched. They all had four scratch marks as if done by a child. This continued for 2 weeks until the landlord took a doll down to the caves and left it for Rosie. The scratching stopped! To this day staff and visitors leave dolls and teddy bears for Rosie.

Rosie is not alone at the the Sal. There are other spirits said to haunt the establishment. A highwayman, a legion of Roman Soldiers and former landlords.
