A Town Like This

There’s an old church rd called Higdon Holler.
Littered with twelve pack boxes
And green mountain thunder bottles
It’s the short cut road from Mamma’s house to my mobile home.

And there are towns like this all under God’s great big sky
some folks fightin to live, but most fightin to die

I’ve learned a few things growing up in this town. The blues and how to drink myself into the ground. But I kept hangin on year after year, sometimes a demon takes hold and cripples you in fear. Before you know it its been 40 years and your still livin in a town like this.

Bout every 3 miles there’s a church and a meth dealer
You can get ya girl high
Then have ya pastor heal her

And everyone and their brother are either cookin or using.
It’ll turn a ½ decent mind into the Devil’s Confusion.

Right this moment there’s a man outside the 5 and dime
Asking a guy for the time
He just gives him a wild go fuck you eye and twitches as he staggers inside.
