It ain't easy being Mr. Esther Hoffman.
The fourth retelling of that enduring "Tears Behind the Tinsel" Hollywood fable about the doomed love affair between a star emergent and a star descendent. This time, set in the world of pop music. Though it would have made for a far more compelling drama had the genders been reversed, Barbra Streisand stars as the talented up-and-comer and Kris Kristofferson is the loveable burnout.
