There was a Willie Brennan, and he was a highwayman, he did operate from around the Kilworth mountains, and he was eventually caught and hanged. But was it in 1804, 1809, 1812? Because you see there was another Brennan operating at that time, and another, so there's a bit of confusion!
To cap things off, there is also another Brennan On The Moor - in Scotland!
No matter, it's a fine ballad, was one of my father's favourites to hear my brothers and myself singing, his consistent request.
