Like many jazz vocalists in the early 70's, Johnny Hartman's (1923-1983) popularity took a nose dive as straight-ahead jazz had little appeal to the new record buyers & concert goers; and like many jazz musicians Johnny tried to adapt to the new styles. This album has him singing songs by Jimmy Webb, Kris Kristofferson and the Stylistics in soul, light funk and jazz versions with a deadly band:

George Coleman - sax
Roland Prince - guitar
Herman Foster - piano
Earl May - bass
Billy Higgins - drums

1972 Perception Records (PLP-30)

The producer "Boo" Frazier mistakenly boast about this being Hartman's first album since the collab with John Coltrane in the liner notes. He had 4 releases between the two, including "Unforgettable Songs" and "I Love Everybody". It was, however, his first release in 5 years.
