In 2002, Gordon Lightfoot suffered a ruptured abdominal aneurysm, He was in a coma for 6 weeks.
In July 2004, he made a surprise appearance performing "I'll Tag Along" at Mariposa in Orillia.
In August 2004 at the request of Ronnie Hawkins, he performed a five-song Comeback set in Peterborough, at a flood relief benefit concert.
