Nearly a year after Waylon had recorded this Mel Tillis song it was finally issued as a track on his summertime 1967 LP “Love Of The Common People,” though a version by Johnny Darrell had recently made it into the C&W top 10: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TQR_hR32e3M The most famous recording by Kenny Rogers & the First Edition https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=27CDenhSYRg was released in the spring of 1969.
